Ardent’s generous donation to York Against Cancer

At York Against Cancer, we are honoured to have received a donation of more than £1,000 from Ardent Financial Planning as part of their ongoing referral scheme.
Ardent initiated this scheme to encourage clients to refer friends and family members who may need help with their finances. As an incentive, Ardent committed to making a £50 donation to York Against Cancer for every meeting that comes from a client recommendation!

Elain Hughes, business director at Ardent, said: “Supporting local charity initiatives to help the community thrive is incredibly important to us. We are very proud of our referral scheme and glad we can contribute to the amazing work that York Against Cancer does.”
To date, Ardent has donated £1,050 to York Against Cancer through this scheme, which is just one of many charity initiatives they are engaged with.
Ardent provides Chartered financial planning services in York and the surrounding area, assisting with issues including retirement, conscientious investing, and divorce. In a poll, Ardent’s clients chose York Against Cancer as the referral scheme’s good cause of choice.

Jess Valenghi from York Against Cancer, said: “Over the course of the last 36 years, the charity has achieved remarkable success, raising an impressive sum of over £20 million. This substantial funding has been strategically allocated to a diverse array of initiatives and services, each designed to make a significant impact in the fight against cancer.
“One of the hallmark achievements of York Against Cancer is its commitment to groundbreaking research at the esteemed Jack Birch Unit in York. This funding has not only helped establish the unit but also ensured its continuous progress in pioneering cancer research.”

Donations like these allow us to not only contribute towards important cancer research programmes, but also help us support cancer patients through services such as our free minibus that takes patients from their homes in and around York to their radiotherapy treatment every working day. Furthermore, we have two luxurious properties for cancer patients and their loved ones seeking respite from their cancer treatments, offering a much-needed opportunity for recuperation.
York Against Cancer also funds and manages The Leveson Centre, a cutting-edge cancer support facility in York. Here, anyone affected by cancer can access an array of complementary therapies, psychology services, group support, and more.

We have also played a vital role in supporting medical innovation in the region. Notable contributions include the establishment of Yorkshire’s first mobile chemotherapy unit. Funds also helped provide support for York Hospital’s surgical robot, enhancing cancer treatment options for the local community.
Jess adds: “With consistent funding from generous donors like Ardent, York Against Cancer continues to make substantial strides in its mission to combat cancer and provide invaluable support to those affected by the disease.”
