Terms & Conditions

We use your personal information to process credit and/or debit card transactions and/or to claim Gift Aid on your donations – legally necessary to carry out contracts with you and to pursue our legitimate interests to recover monies owed to us.

We also use the information to keep a record of your relationship with us, for example when you have used our respite properties or other services. This helps us to notify you of changes to our terms or privacy policy and to request you to leave a review or take part in a survey. These purposes are necessary to perform contracts with you, to comply with legal obligations and/or to pursue our legitimate interests to study how clients use our services, develop them and grow our work as a charity.

Marketing communications

You will receive marketing communications from us if you have requested information from us or purchased good or services from us and you have not opted out of receiving that marketing.

You can ask us to stop sending you marketing messages at any time by following the opt-out links on any marketing message sent to you or by emailing us at office@yorkagainstcancer.org.uk or by writing to us at 31 North Moor Road, Huntington, York YO32 9QN.

Where you opt out of receiving our marketing communications, this will not apply to personal data provided to us as a result of a product/service purchase or other transactions.

Change of purpose

We will only use your personal data for the purposes for which we collected it, unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for another reason and that reason is compatible with the original purpose. If you wish to find out more about how the processing for a new purpose is compatible with the original purpose, please email us at office@yorkagainstcancer.org.uk.

International transfers

Countries outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) do not always offer the same levels of protection to your personal data, so European law has prohibited transfers of personal data outside of the EEA unless the transfer meets certain criteria.

The provider of our e-newsletter service, Mailchimp, is based in the United States, so their processing of subscribers’ personal data will involve a transfer of data outside the EEA. Mailchimp is part of the EU-US Privacy Shield, which requires them to provide similar protection to personal data shared between Europe and the US.
