Vangarde M & S donate flowers and plants to York Against Cancer

Flower bouquets and plants from Marks and Spencer at Vangarde Shopping Park, York are brightening up the York Against Cancer gift shop and raising money for local cancer care, pioneering cancer research, education and information across York and North and East Yorkshire.
Staff from the M & S store across from York Against Cancer HQ deliver flowers which have reached their sell-by-date to our onsite retail shop every couple of days.
The surplus flowers and plants are left outside the front of the shop and donations can be made via cash or card in store. In just one week over £250 has been raised.
York Against Cancer Retail Manager, Helen Watkinson said “I’m delighted that M & S have chosen to support local cancer charity – York Against Cancer. It’s great that we’re building partnerships with neighbouring businesses at Vangarde as that’s exactly what we envisaged when we moved to the Community Stadium.
The colourful flower displays are attracting new customers to the gift shop too – so not only are funds being generated through donations, but it’s been great for new business”.
York Against Cancer General Manager, Julie said “We can’t thank M & S enough for their kindness and generosity. All our work is funded by fundraising and donations, and we always really value the support of local businesses that want to give back to the community.
The flower bouquets are beautiful – a real bargain for Vangarde shoppers.”
York Against Cancer is a small, independent, local charity providing practical help and support for patients and their families living with cancer in York, North and East Yorkshire. We fund vital research and education to prevent and cure cancer in the future.
