It’s Movember! at York Against Cancer

01 Nov 2021

Live music event organiser and charity supporter – Ian Surgenor – and a group of fellow musicians and friends are taking part in Movember to help raise vital funds for York Rocks Against Cancer.

‘York Rocks Against Cancer’ is an annual live music event in which local musicians and celebrities volunteer their time and talent to raise vital funds for local cancer charity – York Against Cancer.

Ian said “I lost my step-mother to bowel cancer in 2001 and have been fundraising for local cancer care ever since – raising close to £70,000 by hosting live music shows in and around York.

We’re aiming to raise £500 by taking part in Movember – the popular fundraising challenge marked by growing a ‘tache in November to raise awareness of men’s health issues – including cancer.

Donations can be made here and the money will be invested into York Rocks Against Cancer ’22 to offset the costs of putting on the event and to ensure the money from every ticket sold goes to charity.”

Craig Caldwell went on to say “I was diagnosed with cancer at thirteen and was given a 1% chance of survival…I was literally saved at the eleventh hour with pioneering new research…and 35 years later live to tell the tale.

I have fundraised for cancer charities ever since and I am taking part in Movember to raise money for York Against Cancer. BELIEVE!”
