Harrisons Signs raise over £1,200 in Dragon Boat Race

24 Jan 2022

On Sunday 12 September 2021, 31 teams battled it out on the River Ouse as part of York Dragon Boat Race organised by York Rotary.

Harrisons Signs entered a team to raise money for York Against Cancer as well as York Rotary’s nominated charities – SASH (Safe and Sound Homes) and The Hut.

The team – ‘Oarsome Signs’ – raised a magnificent £1,213.64 for York Against Cancer via Virgin Giving in sponsorship and donations.

June Robinson, Business Director at Harrison’s Signs said “We love supporting local good causes and it really was a fantastic effort from all the team, raising a huge amount of money for local cancer care.

I was so proud of the team – they showed great dedication – both training for the event and on the day. Out of 31 teams (including the Armed Forces) we made the final and finished in fourth place. Great effort!

We chose to fundraise for York Against Cancer because of the sterling work they do supporting cancer patients and their families in our local community.”

Julie Russell, General Manager of York Against Cancer, went on to say “We’re thrilled Harrison’s Signs chose to fundraise for us. We couldn’t do the work we do without the support of local people and businesses.

Thank you to everyone that donated and supported Harrisons Signs and to the team that competed on the day.

What a result to make the final!”

The 2022 York Dragon Boat Race is scheduled for Sunday 10 July. If you would like to get involved and fundraise for us, please contact York Against Cancer or York Rotary.
