Cocktail Garden Party raises £1650 for York Against Cancer

Our Office and Accounts Manager, Heather, has been fundraising this weekend – organising and hosting a ‘Cocktail Garden Party Fundraiser’ for friends and family and raising over £1650 for York Against Cancer.

Tickets cost £10 per person and included fun and games, karaoke and a burger from the BBQ gifted by Ged Bell Butchers of York.

The ‘RAFFBOLA’ included donations – generously gifted by local businesses – from oven cleans, restaurant vouchers, beauty treatments, days out and more…

Heather and her family recently stayed at the holiday home in Filey when husband Quint was undergoing treatment for cancer. Her daughter, Jade, felt inspired to give back and came up with the idea to host the Garden Party.

Jade said “York Against Cancer help local people and families (like mine) whose lives have been impacted by a cancer diagnosis. We hoped to raise enough money so that another family could stay in the respite home and make memories together by the seaside.   

I can’t believe how generous people have been – from our friends and family to local businesses that donated prizes for the raffle/tombola – we’re just so grateful for the kindness people have shown us.”

Heather went on to say “Covid-19 has seen so many fundraising events cancelled which inevitably led to a loss of income for the charity. I was proud of Jade for suggesting we host a Garden Party to fundraise and give something back.

It was a great opportunity to make the most of the last of the summer weather too and in the company of good friends. The best thing about memories is making them.”
