Living with cancer can be a challenge to your strength and to faith.
Hospital Chaplains are employed by the Trust, and they aim to offer spiritual and pastoral support to patients and their relatives during difficult times, as people journey through illness, treatment and perhaps anxiety.
You do not have to be ‘religious’ to talk to the chaplain, or to visit the hospital chapels and prayer spaces found on most of our sites. The chaplaincy teams are based at York and Scarborough, but we also have some chaplaincy services provided at other hospital sites across the Trust. As a team, we are committed to caring for people regardless of race, religion, creed, sexual orientation, culture and gender.
York Hospital Chaplaincy
You are welcome to visit the chapel, which is situated on the ground floor of the hospital between Junction 4 and 5 at any time. It is open to all as a place of quiet reflection and prayer. In the chapel you are welcome to place a prayer on the prayer tree. Prayer space is available for those who do not wish to use the main hospital space.
Friday Prayers (Jummah) are held in the prayer room at the rear of the chapel area.
Scarborough Hospital Chaplaincy
You are welcome to visit the chapel between 6am and 10.30pm. It is situated on the ground floor, just behind the main reception desk. The chapel is open to all as a place of quiet reflection and prayer. In the chapel you are welcome to place a prayer on the prayer tree. A small prayer room is also available for those who do not wish to use the main chapel space.
Friday Prayers (Jummah) are held at the hospital. Please ask at reception, or the chaplain, how you may access those prayers.
