The Cancer Care Centre at York Hospital
The Cancer Care Centre at York Hospital was established in 1997 thanks to funding from York Against Cancer. You can find it at York Hospital on Wigginton Road – just beneath the Magnolia Centre, which is opposite the multi-storey car park on entry. The centre offers a number of services for cancer patients, their loved ones and their carers.
Services
The Cancer Care Centre is open between 9am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. You can also contact the centre on 01904 721166 and leave a message, and one of the team will get back to you. You’ll benefit from access to information, therapies, psychological treatment and much more.
Information service
Whether you’re dealing with a new diagnosis or living with cancer, the information available is always changing. The centre’s information service provides the most up-to-date information on all types of cancers, local services and support to cope with all aspects of life following a diagnosis. Cancer psychology service
If you require emotional support, you can access the psychological medicine team who offer counselling. You can find out more about this service when you speak to a member of your multi-disciplinary team or one of the Information and Support Officers at the CCC.
Benefits advice
If you’d like more information on accessing benefits and welfare support, the CCC can arrange an appointment with an experienced benefits advisor from the City of York Council. Please contact the centre on 01904 721166.
Support groups
The Centre offers links to local support groups for specific types of cancer. These groups are invaluable for getting you through your diagnosis and treatments, with regular meetings online and face to face. Please contact the centre to find out more about groups which may be helpful to you.

Cancer nurse specialists (CNS)
There will be many people involved in your treatment as part of your multi-disciplinary team (MDT). A clinical nurse specialist will also be assigned to you throughout your treatment. You can find out more about the York Hospital MDT here.
