How We’ve Made a Difference
With your help, we’ve been able to transform the lives of those affected by cancer since 1987. From offering key care and support to funding ground-breaking and internationally valuable research, here are just a few of the ways that York Against Cancer has made a difference. We couldn’t continue to offer this life-changing support without your help. Find out more about how you can get involved with York Against Cancer.
Mobile chemotherapy unit
Ideal for those who cannot travel to York or Scarborough Hospitals, we have funded a £1 million mobile chemotherapy unit. The service covers areas including Scarborough, Selby, Malton and Bridlington, offering essential treatments.
Advancing research into bladder cancer
We have made a 5-year, £1 million commitment to the University of York’s Jack Birch Unit. Led by Professor Jenny Southgate, the unit has been involved in scientific collaborations all over the world, offering innovative insights into bladder cancer treatment.
Supporting prostate cancer treatment
Thanks to a generous legacy donation, we’ve been able to donate £100,000 to fund pioneering research into prostate cancer at the University of York.
Getting you to your treatments
We run a free minibus service for those undergoing radiotherapy treatment. Our door to door service takes patients to St James’ Hospital in Leeds for essential radiotherapy sessions.
Seaside respite home in Filey
Now and again, we need to get away from it all. Our respite home in Filey is available to any patients being treated by the York and Scarborough Hospital Trust, and their loved ones.
We want to say a big Thank You
Our minibus is a vital service to many patients in York and the surrounding areas. With your help...
