Who We Are
York Against Cancer was founded in 1987 by two surgeons and a research scientist - with invaluable support from the business community.
The founders believed that facilities for cancer patients in York were not as good as they could be – and they felt that more could be done to encourage research collaboration between York (District) Hospital and the University of York.
From the outset, they felt that the charity should focus on three separate areas:
Since the late 80s, remarkable achievements have been recorded in all three areas….. for examples, please check out our timeline page.
